Add an eFile module to a workflow step so the step completes on its own when the case is filed, and the case moves straight on to the next step.
Overview
Most bankruptcy workflows have a point where the case gets filed, but until now no workflow step said so. The step had to be marked done by hand after filing. The eFile module makes filing part of the workflow. You add it to a step, pick the kind of filing it waits for, and Glade completes it automatically when that filing succeeds.
It supports both a one-shot filing and a two-part skeleton filing:
Complete filing: the full petition and schedules, filed together.
Skeleton filing, part 1: the petition opens the case, with the remaining schedules to follow.
Skeleton filing, part 2: the remaining schedules, filed into the case that part 1 opened.
How It Works
Add the eFile module to a workflow template
Open the workflow editor: Go to your service's workflow template and open the step where the case should be filed (for example, "Ready to File").
Add a module: Under Modules, click Add module and choose eFile.
Choose the filing type: Under Filing type, pick Complete filing (the default), Skeleton filing, part 1, or Skeleton filing, part 2.
Choose assignees: Pick who is responsible for filing, usually the workflow owner.
Add conditions (optional): Skip the module for cases that don't need it, based on case details.
Publish: Publish the workflow. New cases started on this workflow will include the eFile module.
For a skeleton filing, add two eFile modules on two different steps: a Skeleton filing, part 1 module where the skeleton petition is filed, and a Skeleton filing, part 2 module later in the workflow where the remaining schedules are filed. Part 2 typically comes after the post-petition agreement, the invoice or payment plan, and signing of the remaining schedules.
Add the eFile module to a case that's already in progress
Open the case and go to the step.
Click Add module and choose eFile: complete filing, eFile: skeleton filing, part 1, or eFile: skeleton filing, part 2.
Confirm. The module is added to the step and completes when a matching filing succeeds.
File from the eFile card
Click the eFile card on the case's workflow. If the case hasn't been filed that way yet, Glade opens Electronic Filing for the case, with skeleton mode already set for a part 1 filing.
File the case as usual. For part 2, use the option to file into the existing case.
The module completes on its own when the filing succeeds, and the next step in the workflow starts.
Click the card again after it's complete to open the filing that completed it, so you can see its details and submission history.
Key Details
It completes automatically. You don't mark the eFile module done; a successful filing of the matching type does. A different type of filing won't complete it. For example, a complete (non-skeleton) filing doesn't complete a Skeleton part 1 module.
The next step waits for it. Steps after the eFile module don't start until the filing succeeds.
Already filed? It starts complete. If the case was already filed that way when the step is reached, the module arrives complete and the workflow keeps moving.
Cases filed outside Glade. Recording the case number manually completes a Complete filing module. It doesn't complete skeleton modules, because Glade can't tell from a hand-entered case number that the filing was a skeleton.
It can't be skipped. Add it only to workflows and steps where the case will be filed. Use conditions to leave it out for cases that won't be.
It's for your team only. Your client doesn't see or interact with the eFile module.
FAQ
Q: Which filing type should I choose?
A: Choose Complete filing if you file the petition and all schedules at once. If you file a skeleton petition first and the remaining schedules later, use Skeleton filing, part 1 for the first filing and Skeleton filing, part 2 for the second.
Q: Why didn't my eFile module complete after the case was filed?
A: The filing has to match the module's filing type. For example, a Skeleton part 1 module completes only on a skeleton filing that opens the case. Check the module's filing type, and if the case was filed outside Glade by entering the case number manually, note that this completes only Complete filing modules.
Q: Will existing cases get the eFile module when I add it to the template?
A: No. Template changes apply to cases started after you publish. To add it to a case already in progress, use Add module on that case's step.
Q: What happens when I click the eFile card?
A: Before the filing, it opens Electronic Filing for the case so you can prepare and file it. After the filing, it opens the filing that completed the module.
