Add a Supporting PDF and Choose Where It Files
You can add a supporting PDF — a signature page, an exhibit, an affidavit — from inside Glade, choose exactly which folder it goes in and where in that folder it sits, and have it stay there. No more exporting the petition, combining files in Adobe, and re-importing.
Overview
Supporting PDFs used to be difficult to place. A file added to a case landed unfiled, at the very end of the list, and there was no way to move it into a folder. If you needed it to appear in a specific spot in the compiled petition, the only reliable route was to export the petition, add the page in Adobe, and re-import the result — and then repeat all of it the next time the petition was regenerated.
Now there is an Add a PDF button in two places, and the one you use determines whether the file becomes part of your petition:
Documents panel — for files that belong on the case but should not go into the petition
Prepare Petition — for supporting PDFs that need to be part of the compiled petition
Both open the same dialog. In both, you pick the folder and the position, and the file stays where you put it.
How It Works
Adding a PDF to the case
Open the Documents panel on the case and click Add a PDF.
Choose your file. PDF only, up to 50 MB.
Pick a folder. Start typing to search your existing folders, or choose New folder… and name one. Files with no folder land in Other files.
Pick a position within that folder — At the start of the folder, At the end of the folder, or After a specific document you choose from the list.
Click Add. The file uploads and appears in the folder and position you chose.
A PDF added here is deliberately kept out of the petition. If you later decide you want it included, you can tick it in Prepare Petition.
Adding a supporting PDF to the petition
Open Prepare Petition and click Add a PDF.
Fill in the same dialog — file, folder, position. There is no "include in petition" checkbox here, because adding from this screen means you want it in the petition.
Click Add. You are returned to Prepare Petition with your work intact, and the new file is already checked.
Adjust if you need to. Drag documents into the order you want, and tick or untick anything else.
Click Save selection & compile Petition.pdf.
What stays put
Whatever you leave the petition dialog looking like is what you get the next time you regenerate:
The folder and position you chose for the file
The order you dragged documents into — saved when you compile, so you don't re-drag it every time
Your selection — a supporting PDF you added from Prepare Petition comes back checked, and anything you deliberately unticked comes back unticked
Key Details
PDF only, up to 50 MB. Other file types are not accepted in this dialog.
Position is within a folder. You choose a folder, then place the file at the start, at the end, or immediately after a specific document already in that folder.
Where you file it does not limit whether it can be in the petition. A supporting PDF you added from Prepare Petition stays checked no matter which folder it lives in — it does not have to be in Forms & Schedules.
Your existing cases are unchanged. Documents you have never ticked or unticked keep following your district template exactly as before, so a later template change still flows through rather than being frozen at whatever was checked the last time someone compiled.
Attaching to a specific form is not supported yet. You cannot yet attach a page directly to Form 101 or Schedule I. To get a page immediately behind a particular form, file it in the same folder and choose After that form.
FAQ
Q: Do I still need to export the petition and use Adobe?
A: No. That round trip is what this replaces. Add the PDF where it belongs, compile, and the compiled petition keeps your order.
Q: Do I have to redo the document order every time I regenerate the petition?
A: No. The order you set is saved when you compile, and it comes back the next time you open Prepare Petition.
Q: I added a PDF from the Documents panel and now I want it in the petition. What do I do?
A: Open Prepare Petition and tick it in the document list, then save and compile. It will stay checked from then on.
Q: Can I attach a page directly to a specific form, like a signature page behind Form 2030?
A: Not directly yet. File the page in the same folder as that form and choose After the form when you pick a position — the compiled petition will keep that order. Per-form attachment is a larger change and is being tracked separately.
Q: Can I use this for signing packets?
A: Not yet. This covers case documents and the compiled petition. Adding supporting PDFs to signing packets is a separate piece of work.
Q: What if I put the file in the wrong folder?
A: You can move it in the Documents panel, or add it again in the right place and remove the first copy.
Q: Can I create a folder that doesn't exist yet?
A: Yes. Choose New folder… in the folder picker and name it. The file becomes the first document in that new folder.
Q: Will this change what is in a petition I have already compiled?
A: No. Nothing about your existing cases changes until you add a PDF or change a selection yourself.
