Credit Counseling (Abacus & Evergreen)

Enroll clients in pre-filing credit counseling without leaving Glade. Connect your provider — Abacus or Evergreen — and Glade handles enrollment, the client’s course link, and gets the completion certificate back onto the petition automatically.

Overview

Every bankruptcy filer must complete a pre-filing credit counseling course. Instead of logging into a separate provider portal, entering client data by hand, and copying the certificate back, Glade connects directly to your credit counseling provider. You send one enrollment request; the client takes the course; the certificate flows back into the case on its own.

Glade supports two pre-filing credit counseling providers:

Abacus
Evergreen Financial Counseling

Both work the same way inside Glade — the only difference is which one your firm has connected.

Connecting Your Provider

You only need to do this once per firm.

Go to Dashboard → Integrations.
Choose Abacus or Evergreen.
Complete the attorney registration / enter your attorney code and credentials for that provider.
Save. Glade is now connected and will route enrollments to that provider.

If your firm connects Evergreen, it becomes your pre-filing provider. If no Evergreen connection is present, Glade uses Abacus by default. You don’t pick a provider on each case — Glade routes automatically based on what you’ve connected.

Enrolling a Client

Open the case and go to the credit counseling step. When your provider is connected, Glade sends the enrollment request to the client automatically.
The client gets a task. An Enroll in Credit Counseling task appears on the client’s portal home (both spouses on a joint filing).
The client completes a short form. Name, last 4 of SSN, date of birth, phone, email, and address — Glade prefills what it already has, and resolves the correct court district from the client’s address. Joint filings include optional spouse fields.
The client takes the course. After enrolling, Glade shows the client their course link and completion status right in the portal.

Getting the Certificate

When the client finishes the course, the provider sends the certificate back to Glade automatically. Glade:

Uploads it to the case documents
Marks the credit counseling step complete (for joint filings, once both debtors’ certificates are received)
Attaches the certificate to the petition using the correct filename so it appears in the right place

Already have a certificate from outside Glade? You can attach an existing certificate to the case without re-enrolling the client.

Key Details

One provider per firm at a time — Evergreen takes priority if connected; otherwise Abacus is the default.
Joint filings enroll both debtors; the step completes only when both certificates are in.
District is resolved automatically from the client’s address, so enrollments go to the right court.
Certificates attach themselves to the petition — no manual upload needed in the normal flow.

FAQ

Q: What’s the difference between Abacus and Evergreen?
A: They’re two different credit counseling providers Glade integrates with. Functionally they behave the same inside Glade — connect whichever one your firm uses.

Q: Do I have to enroll each client manually?
A: No. Once your provider is connected, Glade sends the enrollment request automatically when the case reaches the credit counseling step, and creates the client’s portal task for you.

Q: What happens on a joint filing?
A: Both debtors get their own enrollment and task. The credit counseling step is marked complete only after both certificates come back.

Q: The client already completed counseling elsewhere. Can I still use it?
A: Yes. Attach the existing certificate to the case without re-enrolling them.

Q: Where does the certificate end up?
A: It’s uploaded to the case documents and attached to the petition automatically once the course is complete.
