Initiating Workflows

How to Initiate a Workflow (Start a New Case)

You can start a new workflow—also called initiating a case—directly from your Glade Dashboard. This is how you launch the intake process, document collection, signatures, billing, and more for a new or existing client.

Follow the steps below to initiate a workflow.

1. Open the Initiate Case Panel

You can open the case initiation flow in two ways:

Keyboard Shortcut (Fastest)

Press “C” on your keyboard from anywhere in the dashboard.
This immediately opens the Initiate Case window.

Or Click the Button

On the Dashboard Home Page, click Initiate Case at the top.

2. Select the Workflow

Choose the type of case or service you want to start.

Examples:

  • Chapter 7

  • Chapter 13

  • Immigration workflow

  • Document collection workflow

  • Custom workflows your firm created

This determines the steps the client will go through.

3. Select the Customer

You can:

  • Search for an existing client, or

  • Create a new customer right from this screen

New clients will automatically receive access to their Glade portal once the workflow begins.

4. Assign Owners

Choose the team members responsible for this workflow.

Common roles include:

  • Intake

  • Documents

  • Caseworker

  • Finance

  • Reviewer

  • Managing attorney

Assigning owners improves visibility and ensures tasks route to the right people.

5. Select the Attorney

If your firm has multiple filing attorneys, choose the correct attorney here.

This ensures the right signature lines, approval steps, and workflow routing.

6. Set Up the Invoice

Configure billing for the case:

  • Edit line items

  • Add or remove services

  • Create payment plans

  • Add or select payment methods

  • Set due dates and amounts

Everything you set here flows into the client’s portal immediately.

7. Review All Details

The final screen shows a summary of:

  • Workflow type

  • Client information

  • Assigned team members

  • Billing details

  • Attorney assignment

Confirm everything looks correct before proceeding.

8. Initiate the Case

Click Initiate.

The workflow will start immediately, triggering:

  • The first step of the workflow

  • Any initial messages

  • Tasks for your team

  • Billing setup

  • Client notifications

  • Access to the client portal

Your client now begins working through the guided steps you configured.
